Greenhouse Gases
Greenhouse Gases: Definition
Climate change is largely referred to in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. Basically, these gases trap heat in our atmosphere. When the sun hits our planet it can either be reflected back into space – where much of it should go – or absorbed by Earth.

Breaking Down Greenhouse Gases:
Greenhouse gases act like a blanket and trap heat that should be tossed back into space – where it belongs. The main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide (mainly from burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil), methane (production and transport of fossil fuels – also organic waste), nitrous oxide (from agriculture and industrial activities and combustion of fossil fuels), and fluorinated gases (emitted from a variety of industrial processes).
